Request: 
100 specific orders for medical blood work analyses for an airline’s crew members; each kind of analysis required its own bid request or order.
Volume:
About 500,000 analyses per year.
Duration of contract: 
One year minimum. A discount was offered for a three year contract.
Bid: 
Bidding began at approximately $1,000,000 and the final offer was approximately $750,000.
Savings:    
25% from starting offer.

 

Equipment for Transporting Patients

Request: 
Eight requests for bids (3 main bids with alternative options ) for medical devices, including defibrillator and various analysis devices
Bid: 
Bidding began at $300,000 and the final offer was $250,000.  
Comment: 
By negotiating to substitute alternatives for some devices while still providing the same technical data, the final bid was reduced by an additional $15,000 to end at $235,000.
Savings:    
Over 20% from starting offer.

 

Construction of a Five-story Container Building

Request: 
1 bid request for construction of a complete 5-story container building, including office space and two elevators.
Bid: 
Bidding began at $15,000,000 and the final offer was $11,000,000.
Savings:    
Over 25% from starting offer.
